TWO HOUR EARLY DISMISSAL DATES: During this 2006-07 school year, the Lincoln Public Schools is implementing a new school improvement model called Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). This program has been implemented in all LPS schools because we believe it is important to continually find additional ways to equip our staff as they help all students be more successful learners. There will be three Professional Learning Community days during the remainder of this school year. The dates are: February 27, March 27, and April 24.
This means that on those dates, school will be dismissed two hours early. Half-day kindergarten, ExCITE, and ECSE will also be on a shortened schedule. At Huntington, this will impact both the morning and afternoon ECSE. ECSE morning sessions will begin at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 9:49 a.m. Afternoon ECSE sessions will begin at 11:19 a.m. and end at 12:53 p.m. Buses will run accordingly. The Lincoln Parks and Recreation after school program will begin immediately following the early dismissal. There will be no after school clubs meeting on these days. Arrangements will need to be made for early pick up of all other students. Please be sure to mark your calendars and be prepared to pick up your student or make after school arrangements on these dates.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION will be held at Huntington on March 22, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 23, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Huntington main office. Please bring all registration forms along with a certified birth certificate, social security card, and current immunization records when registering your student.
HYVEE’S DOLLARS FOR EDUCATION: Again this year, Lincoln HyVee stores will donate $1 to Lincoln schools for every $100 of receipts that are turned into the school of your choice. In the past few years, Huntington has received generous donations thanks to your participation in this annual promotion. Receipts dated January 8, 2007 through April 1, 2007 will be honored and a collection box is located in the Huntington office for these receipts. Thank you for helping Huntington school!
STATEWIDE WRITING TESTS will be given to all of our fourth grade students on February 6 and February 7. These are very important tests for our students and I would like to offer a few suggestions to ensure that your student’s participation reflects his or her best efforts.
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION: WRITE OR REVISE YOUR WILL Have you decided‚ĶWHERE your assets would go? WHO should oversee your health care? WHAT charities you wish to support? WHO should care for your children? The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools invites you to a FREE one-hour seminar to address these important questions. Estate Planning Attorney, Timothy Clare of Rembolt Ludtke LLP will give a brief presentation, provide worksheets, and answer questions.
